Ika said there are a number of ways to activate the body’s immune system. Who is the one to maintain a balanced diet with nutrition. In addition, drink at least 6 glasses of water / day, exercise at least 3 times a week for at least 30 minutes, and maintain overall body hygiene by bathing every day.

No less important, wash your hands with soap or hand sanitizer every time you are going to eat or drink and get out of the bathroom, and rest or sleep for 6-8 hours / day.

Regarding the use of immunomodulators (regulators of the immune system), Ika said, the consumption of immunomodulators or vitamins and supplements should not replace balanced nutrition consumed daily. In other words the community is still encouraged to maintain a balanced nutritional diet.

“There are several herbs that have been studied both in vitro [in cells] and in vivo in test animals that can boost the body’s immunity,”

There are 18 herbs that have been studied and proven to increase immunity. Some of these herbs include:

1. Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosasinensis)
2. Brotowali (Tinospora cordifolia)
3. Teen (Ficus carica)
4. Aloe vera (Aloe vera)
5. Mulberry (Morus alba)
6. Garlic (Allium sativum)
7. Turmeric (Curcuma longa)
8. People-aring (Eclipta alba)
9. Mango (Mangifera indica)
10. Mimba (Azadirachta indica)
11. Noni (Morinda citrifolia)
12. Gotu kola (Centella asiatica)
13. Java Chili (Piper longum)
14. Echinace (Echinacea pupurea)
15. Meniran (Phyllanti niruri)
16. Rodent Tuber (Thyponium flagelliforme)
17. Ant nests (Myrmecodia tuberosa)
18. Lime (Citrus aurantifolia)

She explained the consumption of these ingredients can be done to boost the immune system. Consumption can be carried out for a certain period of time up to 8 weeks However, drug regulatory authorities in several European countries recommend that the time to use immunomodulatory substances is no more than 8 weeks.

“Consumption should not be more than 8 weeks so that if the patient experiences health problems can be known, not covered by the effects of the immunomodulator. If there is a health problem, then the patient must go to a health facility,” Ika said.

In addition, the use of immunomodulators is not recommended for patients with chronic diseases such as leukemia, TB, and autoimmune diseases such as SLE, Rheumatoid arthritis, Idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura, and type 1 DM.

Ika reiterated, a healthy lifestyle and a healthy diet to ward off the coronavirus COVID-19 must be a top priority. This is important, considering the influence of eating patterns and healthy living is more reliable in increasing the body’s resistance against corona virus infection.
